Synopsis:
In Sierra Leone, a country devastated by years of brutal
civil war, young people are using new technology to create
music, make movies, and run radio programs. In India, youth
are exploring how technology can be used to address poverty.
Now these youth - at the forefront of the technology revolution
- but forgotten in global decision-making, are joining forces
to make their voices heard.
Traversing
seven countries on four continents "Local Voices, Global
Visions" meets these youth in their local communities,
and follows them as they attend the UN's World Summit on
the Information Society, a groundbreaking gathering of world
leaders held in Geneva in December 2003.
This
is more than a powerful educational resource. It's a call
to action for young people to tackle some of our planet's
most pressing problems.
"Empowering
Youth as leaders, contributors, entrepreneurs and decision
makers"
- this is their 'Global Vision'.
